Katy Perry debuted the video for her new hit single “Part of Me” which has girls loving the woman empowered lyrics. Perry recently sat down with MTV and explained how the song was written a couple years ago.

“You should just say you wrote it a couple of weeks ago.’ I’m like, ‘I’m not a d—, I’m going to tell the truth,’” she told MTV News. “I wrote it two years ago when I was writing and recording Teenage Dream, [but] it didn’t feel right on the record. I’d have to take out one of my other songs that [made the album] a nice, complete package.”

So was the song meant for boyfriend at that time Travis McCoy? Guess we will never know. Either way, we love the video!

uh oh… Jay z is having to deal with some legal issues according to XXL Magazine. Hov’s hit “Big Pimpin” which was released in 2000, is being sued by the family of Baligh Hamdy, the composer of the songs sample “Khosara, Khosara.”

The song was licensed to Jay-Z for use, however, according to reports, the family of the composer of “Khosara, Khosara,” Baligh Hamdy, believes that Jiggaman proceeded to “mutilate” the original. Osama Ahmed Fahmy, the composer’s nephew, is now seeking financial compensation for some of the money that has been made off of the success of “Big Pimpin’.”

We have just received confirmation from Whitney Houston’s reps that she has passed away at the age of 48. Whitney was supposed to be attending Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy party tonight; unfortunately, she was found dead in the bathroom of her Beverly Hilton hotel room. Cause of death is still unknown. Throughout her career, Whitney Houston has been an iconic singer and actress. She has touched each one of our hearts differently with her music and movie “The Bodyguard.” She will always be remembered for her hits like “I Will Always Love You,” “Greatest Love Of All,” “Run To You,” “I’m Every Woman,” “When You Believe” and many more. Well it is true…

The Hollywood “IT” couple shocked everyone by officially calling it quits. Heidi Klum and Seal released a statement stating they are officially separating after 8 great years of being together. Earlier this week, Seal sat with Ellen to speak about his new album and yes, you guessed it… Ellen asked about the split. Seal as the gentleman that he is explains and really goes in depth of how he feels and how his love for Heidi will still remain…

“I think we were shocked,” Seal explains on Ellen. “You go into these things with the greatest intentions when you say ‘I do’ and you say ”Till death do us part.’ Those vows hold value. They are not just words. These things happen. We pretty much said how we feel and made it clear in the release statement.

“But, for intents and purposes of this show, you just grow apart after awhile. You try and you work through it and the thing that you quickly realize when you are married and you become a parent is you do the best that you can. It makes you actually appreciate your parents a lot more.The thing that I’m most proud about this great woman who married—and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart—is that together she has given me four incredible gifts…four beautiful children. 

“She still, in my opinion, the most wonderful woman in the world. I think our priority was to remain civil and do this thing with dignity. We still very much love each other. It’s not a question of we were never to follow suit of some breakup or separations that you hear about, especially in our industry. It’s a shame. To say that neither of us were grieving would be an out and out lie, and I don’t mind telling you that. I think the operative here is that we are civil to each other and we both have a tremendous amount of respect and love and we try and do this with as much dignity as we possibly can. And of course, when you have four children, you hope and pray that the rest of the world will respect that we have four children and that their little hearts are at stake, too.”

It’s an unfortunate day as we have lost our legendary and soulful singer, Etta James at the age of 73. Etta James was suffering from hepatitis C and dementia and was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2010 and had been trying to pull through. Her manager and long time friend Lupe De Leon confirmed that the “At Last” singer died from complications from Leukemia by her husbands and sons sides.

” This is a tremendous loss for the family, her friends and fans around the world,” De Leon said. “She was a true original who could sing it all — her music defied category.

“I worked with Etta for over 30 years. She was my friend and I will miss her always.”

Etta would have turned 74 this upcoming Wednesday. We will never forget her and the impact that she’s made in the world of music.

Following Dwayne Wade’s sprained right ankle, resulting from a Heat loss against the Denver Nuggets on Friday, the NBA star celebrated his birthday in style at the Setai in South Beach. 

The birthday soiree included performances from Miami’s own Rick Ross, T.i., Common and Kelly Rowland who sang Wade a sultry version of “Happy Birthday.”

What do you get a man who has it all? Including the beautiful Gabrielle Union. The Collection, a luxury auto-dealership in Miami, gifted Wade with a 2012 McLaren. He was also presented with a vintage 1982 bottle of Dom Perignon and a diamond encrusted Hublot 3000 watch.

Now that the celebration has passed, Wade’s team mates will take on the Lakers tonight. Unfortunately for Miami, Wade will have to sit this one out.

Today we finally got confirmation that The King & Queen herself had their baby. Blue Ivy Carter was born on January 7, 2012 at a healthy 7lbs. Everyone tweeted congratulating the couple, Rihanna tweeted “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih,” Diddy also wrote “Congrats to jay and B! God Bless :)! And many more!” as well as many others like Nick Cannon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Brooklyn Decker, and more.

Jay-z released the song “Glory” today where he speaks about his daughter Blue. “Last time the miscarriage was so tragic/ We was afraid you disappeared/ But nah, baby, you magic” She seems to be also featured in the end of the song as well as it is implemented in the title. Listen below to hear a proud father sing about the hardships and glories of having his baby girl.

Now the question is… When will we see Baby Blue? Well, as crazy as the press may be right now to be the first to get the picture… We don’t think it’ll be as easy as they think. Beyonce and Jay have succeeded in being one of the most private couples in Hollywood. So seeing who gets the picture will be very interesting!
